The Cutting Edge: Going for the Gold
In the hit 1992 romance-on-the-ice comedy The Cutting Edge, the slightly arrogant hockey player Doug Dorsey (D.B. Sweeney) and the snotty prima-donna ice skater Kate Moseley (Moira Kelly) found themselves falling in love during a figure skating championship, while constantly at each other's throats. Ironically, Jackie finds herself traveling in the footsteps of her mom, when an ankle injury on the ice forces her to take on a new partner. She soon teams up with Alex Harrison (Ross Thomas, CSI) an adrenaline-junkie surfer and in-line skater. And though Alex is officially tied to another girl, the partnership takes an intriguing turn when the two opt to go doubles for a skating championship, just like Jackie's folks once did. Soon, hints of romance between them fill the air. Could these two acerbic, bickering opposites ever find lasting happiness? The Cutting Edge 2: Going for the Gold features a cameo by world-champion figure skater Oksana Baiul.

Roosevelt. The architect of their success was Rusty Russell, a legendary high school coach who shocked his colleagues by giving up a privileged position so he could teach and coach at an orphanage. Few knew Rusty's secret: that he himself was an orphan. Recognizing that his scrawny players couldn't beat the other teams with brawn, Rusty developed innovative strategies that would come to define modern football.

Ten-time Big Mountain Rider of the Year winner Jeremy Jones revolutionized backcountry snowboarding with DEEPER, his 2010 ode to splitboarding and human-powered adventure. His 2012 sequel, FURTHER, took him to the planet's most remote mountain ranges and earned him a nod as a 2013 National Geographic Adventurer of the Year, and his environmental advocacy work with Protect Our Winters won him recognition as one of President Barack Obama's 2013 Champions of Change. Now Jones and his crew are elevating their game and taking their quest to the next level for the third and final installment of the DEEPER, FURTHER, HIGHER trilogy. HIGHER--like the chapters that preceded it--is produced and co-directed by Jeremy's brothers Steve and Todd Jones, who are the co-founders of Teton Gravity Research. HIGHER traces Jones' snowboarding journey from hiking Cape Cod's Jailhouse Hill as a child to accumulating several generations' worth of wisdom and expertise about thriving and surviving in the winter wilderness. Jones has gathered friends old and new to pass the torch to the next generation of big mountain rippers. His crew for the film includes Bryan Iguchi, Luca Pandolfi, Lucas Merli, Ryland Bell, and others. With these friends, Jeremy leaves tracks on signature lines in the close-to-home playgrounds he's made his own around Jackson Hole and Lake Tahoe. He also makes history with far-flung first descents in the Eastern Alaska Range and the Himalaya of Nepal, where the stakes are as high as the peaks themselves.

SILVERBACK: The Trent Williams Story
Trent Williams is one of the most athletic and successful offensive linemen in NFL history. The eight-time first-ballot Pro Bowler can go from clearing 5-foot-high box jumps to beating future Hall of Fame running back Adrian Peterson in footwork drills. The 6’5”, 320-pound native of Longview, Texas, is also a skilled hooper, capable of 360-degree dunks and a nasty crossover akin to Allen Iverson’s. Now, the San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle—known as the “Silverback” for his size and speed—is authoring one of the most miraculous comeback stories in NFL history. In 2014, when Trent was with Washington, he discovered a bump on his head that had slow growth and was difficult to diagnose. Then in January 2019, Trent received a severe diagnosis: he had a rare and life-threatening sarcoma on his scalp that was weeks away from spreading to his skull and, potentially, his brain. After missing more than a year, during which he became an accomplished entrepreneur, Trent returned to form in 2020 and was selected to his eighth Pro Bowl, before signing a $138 million deal earlier this year—the most lucrative contract for an offensive lineman ever. For the first time, Trent opens up about one of the craziest ordeals and comebacks in sports.

Andreas Fransson has been called the boldest extreme skier in a generation. Over the past 3 years he's logged first descents in a half-dozen countries, battled back from an accident that nearly killed him, and became the most talked about skier in the epicenter of all things extreme, Chamonix, France. What makes Andreas most intriguing, however, are his thoughtful musings on meaning from a life on the edge, a willingness to enter mental spaces that few have ever experienced. In Tempting Fear Sweden's soft spoken Adventurer of the Year explored a place in which fear overwhelms all emotions, playing both friend and enemy in a pas de deux where death lies just one misstep away.

For good measure, the vast, gorgeous backcountry cinematography in this film has been carefully framed to include the vastly less gorgeous human males known as The Manboys. Experts at bumbling around in the snow, they love to execute dangerous snowboarding maneuvers with all of the gusto and wonderment of those kids from Hook, but also the facial hair of that guy from Cast Away. From handmade features in natural terrain, to the mean streets of the urban frontcountry, these Manboys want you to have a hell of a good time watching them have a hell of a good time.
