The Grammy award for Album of the Year is awarded to the performer and production team of a full album.
Seven artists have won the Album of the Year award more than once. Taylor Swift has the most Album of the Year wins with four, winning for "Midnights" (2024), "Folklore" (2021), "1989" (2016), and "Fearless" (2010). Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon have each won the award three times. John Lennon, U2, and Adele have each won it twice. Frank Sinatra and Stevie Wonder are the only artists to win in consecutive years. Stevie Wonder won the award three out of four years from 1974 to 1977 only interrupted by Paul Simon who won it in 1976. Paul Simon was the winner once as a member of Simon and Garfunkel and twice as a solo artist. John Lennon won once with The Beatles and once with Yoko Ono.
Lauryn Hill's "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" (1999) the Outkast's "Speakerboxx/The Love Below" (2004) are the only rap / hip-hop albums to win the Grammy for Album of the Year.
Two of the winning albums are not musical, "The Button-Down Mind" (1961) by Bob Newhart and "The First Family" (1963) by Vaughn Meader are comedy albums.
